When you’re face to face with an attacker, it’s easy to be intimidated if you’re not prepared to fight, so train your brain that it’s okay to protect yourself.

This begins with confidence that you can take care of yourself in any situation. Some criminals will avoid attacking a person who appears sure of herself. Watch your surroundings and take preventive measures to protect yourself. (See other tips on this site for more information.)

If you are attacked, be prepared to fight. You might only have seconds to decide whether you’re going to be a fighter or a victim, and what move would be best to defend yourself. Being in the right mindset is the first step in taking care of yourself.
