A lot of attackers will force you to the ground and sit on you, either to choke or hit you. This is a common move known and used by many regardless of skill or training, it's called "The mount". This position is VERY bad for the person on the bottom and their first priority should be escaping to a better position.
This is one of the best ways to escape the mount:

1. Put your feet flat on the floor and scoot them as far towards your butt as you can get them.
2-3. Thrust your hips up hard, high, and suddenly. This should be done in the direction to send your attacker over your head. It forces him to put his hands down to stop himself from falling. (If he falls instead of catching himself, skip to step 5-6.)
4. Pick a side. If your attacker went a little to the left or right, that's your side. Place your foot over the attacker's foot on that side while at the same time grabbing his arm on that side and pulling it close to you. This will keep him from catching himself in the next step.
5-6. Almost the exact same motion as step 2-3, except this time after your hips go up you roll to one side (the side you picked in step 4) and keep rolling until you are on top. He shouldn't be able to catch himself because you are stopping him from using the arm and leg on that side (step 4)
Follow up with something that will stun him like a knee or punch between the legs, or an eye gouge, then get outta there!
